Background
Dr Paran joined Curtin University Malaysia in March 2023. Previously, he worked as a Senior Lecturer at Quest International University from August 2018 to February 2023. He obtained his first bachelor’s degree in Bachelor of Civil Engineering with Honours from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) in 2012. He completed his master’s study in Civil Engineering and graduated in 2014. He also has a PhD in Civil Engineering from UTHM, specialising in wastewater phycoremediation. He works mostly on applying microalgae in phycoremediation of wastewater and biomass production, bioremediation of contaminated soil using phytoremediation technology, and application of waste materials into value-added products. Since the beginning of his research activities, he managed to publish more than 20 cited papers indexed in Web of Science and Scopus. His current Scopus h-index is 13, with more than 400 citations. He is a graduate engineer and professional technologist registered under the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT), respectively.
