Dr. Dominique first joined Curtin University Sarawak Malaysia in February 2008 as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Applied Geology. She completed her PhD in 1984 at Brussels University (Highest Distinction) and then worked for many years as a consultant hydrogeologist and senior hydrogeologist in the water industry, as well as occupying other teaching positions. One of the projects she worked on as Senior Hydrogeologist was the Sarawak Research Project (Malaysia Rural Water Supply, for Antah Biwater/Jabatan Kerja Raya). This project lead to the conceptual design of rural water supply schemes in drought prone areas of rural Sarawak, and included study of deep aquifers, sand aquifers and peat as well as monitoring surface water for saline intrusion. She has worked on groundwater projects in Cameroon, Oman and UK. Some of her work as consultant involved investigation of hydrogeological impact of contaminated land.  Her research area is in the general field of sedimentary geology with a particular focus on limestones and their karstification. This covers aspects such as geological mapping of karst features and study of distribution and morphology of speleothems, including the possibilities of influence of cyanobacterial life on speleothem development. Her tertiary education includes B.Sc in Geology and Mineralogy gained at Brussels University, Belgium for which she was awarded High Distinction. She speaks English, French, Bahasa Malaysia and Spanish.
