Mechanical Engineering Week 2012

Curtin University Mechanical Engineering Club (CUMEC) had organized “Mechanical Engineering Week” (ME Week) successfully from 25 to 28 July 2012 with the full support from the Mechanical Engineering Department. The Mechanical Engineering Week is a yearly event to let Mechanical Engineering students practise engineering knowledge and skills through fun activities and games, to offer more industrial exposures, and  to promote Mechanical Engineering as well as CUMEC to current students.

ME Week 2012 with the theme “Strive for the better future!” is officially launched by Dr. Dereje with an interesting launching mechanism during its opening ceremony on 25 July 2012. CUMEC also celebrated its first anniversary on that day.

Various game sessions were carried out throughout the week with attractive prizes to be won. The winners for each game are listed as below:

Popsicle Cube Challenge (Group):

Apart from that, site visit and career talks were also included in the ME Week this year. A trip to Shin Yang Plywood, Kuala Baram was organized on 27 July 2012 (Fri). On the following day, career talks regarding Oil and Gas were held in LTBS LT I, Curtin University Sarawak. Two experts from related industry were invited to share their knowledge and experience with Curtin students about the career and job advancement of Mechanical Engineering graduates in Oil and Gas industry. They are Ir. Dr. Edwin NT Jong and Ir. Lee Hung Sang respectively.
