Visit to Drilling Fluid and Petrophysics Labs, Baker Hughes Brunei

Miri – 6 November 2014 – 40 Petroleum Engineering third-year students who are accompanied by Dr. Hisham Khaled Ben Mahmud and Diana Ikum went for academic trip to visit the Drilling and Petrophysics laboratories at Baker Hughes Company in Kuala Belait, Brunei where the students were able to expose themselves to oil and gas industrial facilities and also to meet senior oil and gas service engineers.

At the beginning, several representative staffs from Baker Hughes had a presentation that included an introduction about the company, on-site safety issues and description on the drilling fluid concept. Following that they conducted drilling fluid mud tests. After that, it included site visit to the Petrophysics laboratory where students were divided into smaller groups which they had the opportunities to learn all devices that can be used to analyze the crude oil and its purposes. At the end, the students had Q&A session with the senior engineers and HR recruitment team and also had face to face discussion.
