Student Activties



The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) is the fastest growing professional engineering institution in the United Kingdom. Currently, it has over 100,000 members from global chapters in 120 countries. Curtin Sarawak IMechE Student Chapter is the eight student chapter in Malaysia and the first established in the East of Malaysia.  Curtin Sarawak IMechE Student Chapter was set up by the former committees of Curtin University Mechanical Engineering Club (CUMEC) on the 12th of October 2013 in which CUMEC was later merged into the student chapter. The principal aim of Curtin Sarawak IMechE Student Chapter is to recruit student members by providing students to become affiliate member while at university.  The student chapter also aims to increase the Instituition’s engagement with members who are based at the university.  The activities of the chapter also aims to raise the profile of the Institution and the engineering profession both with wide student and teacher population at the university and the local community.  The current committee is helmed by Ms Sheena Jasmin Yong, with Dr Vincent Lee Chieng Chen as the Academic Liaison Officer of IMechE.
