2nd Colloquium on Process Control
Posted date:We are proud to announce that the 2nd Colloquium on Process Control (CPC2015) will be held through Thursday to Friday, October 1 – 2, at Curtin University Sarawak, Miri City. The 1st CPC was organized by the USM Process Control Group, 1st October 2013, in Pulau Pinang.
Curtin University Sarawak is a well-established offshore campus of Curtin University, Australia. The campus is located just a few miles away from the oil town of Lutong. The first oil well in Sarawak (the Grand Old Lady) which is located right at the centre of Miri City was drilled by Shell Company in 1910. Miri is a peaceful multicultural City and the home to over 20 different ethnics, speaking different languages as well as practicing unique traditional cultures. Also, Miri Region has several exquisite natural sceneries, such as the Niah Cave and Logan Bunut National Park. This region constitutes an important part of the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE), in which Curtin University Sarawak plays an important role in terms of providing capable engineers and research capabilities to meet the SCORE’s industrial needs.
Aims and Scope
Process Control, Modelling and Optimization (PCMO) has served as a main pillar in the establishment of various technologies, which help enabling chemical and allied industries to achieve increased safety standard as well as improved profitability in the face of ever increasing global competitions and environmental issues. PCMO research community has to keep abreast with the increasing challenges faced by the industries in order to be relevant in the present and future environments. In this respect, the aim of this colloquium is to provide an avenue for researchers, engineers and managers to exchange new ideas and discoveries addressing the current and emergent problems in process control and related areas.
The colloquium covers the following topics:
- Control Theories: plant wide, multivariable, model predictive control (MPC), robust, nonlinear, fuzzy intelligent, quantum control, stochastic control, statistical process control, cascade and feedforward control.
- Applications: chemical processes, biosystems, power plants, batch and fed-batch processes, fuel cells, animal house and greenhouse control systems.
- Modelling: empirical and fundamental process models, multi-scale systems, parameter estimations, distributed system, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), flood forecasting and time series analysis.
- Optimization: heuristic computation methods, convex and nonconvex optimization and statistical data-based optimization.
Best Paper Award: Selection of the best paper will be made at the colloquium based on technical content, novelty and presentation. Winner will be chosen by the Award Committee led by the technical chair, in consultation with the Advisory Committee.
Two categories of best paper awards:
- Best paper award
- Innovative award
Paper Submission: All paper submissions will be peer reviewed and evaluated based on originality, technical content, readability and relevance to conference proceedings. Full paper (maximum 6 pages) should be prepared using the template provided in the website. Upon acceptance notification, authors are required to submit the camera-ready of their papers to the CPC Secretariat via email (CPC2015secretariat@curtin.edu.my). Papers will be published in the conference proceedings with an understanding that at least one of the authors is officially registered. Each registration covers one paper submission. Any additional submission will be charged RM 250/paper.
