Backgrounds

A geospatial scientist by training, Professor Vu has over 20 years of research and teaching experience across Eurasia. After obtaining his PhD degree in 2003, he worked as a research scientist in Japan until 2008 followed by three years of teaching at the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. In 2011, he joined the University of Nottingham Malaysia where he became an Associate Professor and was appointed the Head of the Environmental and Geographical Sciences. In 2017, he joined Hoa Sen University in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, as its Dean of Science and Engineering, and later as the Vice-President. Now, he is a Professor and Dean of Engineering and Science, Curtin University Malaysia. Prof Vu was the recipient of the 2005 Japan Survey Award and conferred the title of Docent by the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden in 2014. Professor Vu is an elected charter member of the OSGEO, a senior member of IEEE. He is also a Fellow and a council member of the ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology (AAET), and a fellow of Higher Education Academy.
