Chemical Engineering Research Laboratory
This laboratory is the workplace for Final Year Project Student (Undergraduate), Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Student & Researcher to conduct their experiments, measurements and scientific research projects. It can accommodate up to 25 students at one time, is equipped with sophisticated lab equipment and includes a fumehood for the safe use of hazardous materials.
1. Bioreactor System, Biostat A Plus 2L, Sartorious, German
The equipment contains three components: an autoclaved bioreactor, a control unit and a software application that can control different parameters like temperature, pH, pO2, stirrer velocity or different gas flows. Bioreactor Biostat A plus is used for Microbial culture; growth of bacteria,yeast and fungi and ideal for Cell culture; growth of animal, insect and plant cells.
2. Supercritical Fluid Extractor System (SFE), SFT-100, Supercritical Fluid Technologies Inc
SFE is used for separating/ extracting one component from another without leaving toxic residues in extracts and without the risk of thermal degradation of processed products. It is effective in the separation of essential oils and its derivatives for use in the food, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and other related industries.
3. Incubator 240L, BF240, Binder
A laboratory incubator is a heated & insulated box used to incubate, grow and maintain microbiological or cell cultures. The incubator maintains optimal temperature, humidity and gaseous content of the atmosphere inside.
4. Refrigerated Centrifuge, Universal 320R, Hettich
Refrigerated centrifuge is lab equipment driven by a motor, which is spins liquid samples at high speed and temperature range between -20 ⁰C to 40⁰C. It is work by the sedimentation principle, where the accelerations used to separate substances of greater and lesser density.
