Field Trip to Miri Air Traffic Control Tower
Posted date:ECE will organize a half-day trip to the MIRI AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWER. The schedule is as below:
Date: 16th of March, 2012 (Friday)
Time: 7:30am – 12:00pm
Assembly Point: Campus bus stop (next to the Bookshop/ GK supermarket)
Areas in the airport which we will be visiting: (1) Airport Control Tower, (2) Airport Terminal
Have you ever imagined being the person in-charge of air traffic, controlling which plane takes off and which plane to land? Have you ever wondered how instructions are relayed to the pilots in the air, and have them execute those instructions immediately?
Air traffic Controller Radar Screen
This is the opportunity to understand an air traffic controller’s working cycle and daily operations.
Seats are limited, therefore we will work on a first come first basis (Third year ECE students will be prioritized). If you have classes which clash with this visit, please consult your unit lecturer to discuss the possibility of you joining the visit.

Please read through the following notes for better understanding in filling up the registration form:
1. Depart from Curtin Miri Campus bus stop near Curtin Bookshop at 7:30 am to Miri Airport
2. Back from Miri Airport at 12:00pm to Curtin Miri Campus
3. Malaysian students have to provide Malaysian IC number and Passport number
4. International students have to provide your country ID number and Passport number
5. For International students, please bring along your passport.
