R&D Committee

The primary role of the research and development (R&D) committee is to facilitate the R&D activities within the Faculty of Engineering & Science (FOES). Members are responsible for providing a conduit for communication from the committee to all the departments in FOES. Specifically, the terms of reference of the committee are as follows:

  • To develop and maintain the Faculty’s Research Strategy on behalf of the Faculty Management
  • To initiate and promote inter-Departmental and inter-Faculty research work
  • To identify and prioritise responses to major research funding opportunities
  • To coordinate and prioritise collaborative bids across the Faculty
  • To develop strategies for the marketing of the research capabilities of the Faculty
  • To provide a formal link between the Faculty and the University R&D Office
  • To act as the Faculty Representative for the University Research & Development Committee
  • To advise on the coordination of major research facilities within the Faculty
  • To advise the Faculty Management on the allocation of funding for research initiatives
  • To advise on, and monitor the quality of, support for the Faculty’s research activities
  • To monitor the Faculty’s research performance.
