The following two projects proposed by the Office of Research and Development (R&D) arising from the research plans of senior lecturer Dr. Dominique Dodge-Wan and Head of Department Dr. Ramasamy Nagarajan, both from the Department of Applied Geology, have been approved for funding by Sarawak Energy Bhd:

1. Mapping of Soil Erosion Risk in the Catchment Area of the Hydro Project using Landsat and GIS by Dr.Dominique Dodge‐Wan

2. Geochemistry and Distribution of Trace Metals in Sediments in Rivers Proposed for Dam Sites (Baram,Baleh and Pelagus) by Dr. Ramasamy Nagarajan

Our current success with Sarawak Energy Bhd. and the very positive developments in our potential rural hydro-electric proposals would not have transpired without the leadership and guidance of Dean of R & D Professor Clement Kuek who has been championing these projects and has worked closely with our team in their successful bids. These projects are valued at around RM2 million and are the largest research project grants to be received by Curtin Sarawak.
